Weekend Snapshot: Walkabout in Hartford

I was summoned for jury duty in Hartford, Connecticut, on Thursday. This was a beautiful, clear, bright day, so I brought my camera along for the ride. This city is beautiful.

I didn't wander off Main Street during our lunch recess, but it didn't matter. There was enough to see right where I stood outside the court house. The solemn fellow below adorns the outside of the Wadsworth Atheneum.

  3. Excellent captures! Most people feel a sort of drudgery when call for jury duty. I think it is special way to repay your community and help ensure justice is fair. That may seem odd coming from a cop but I think that, while not perfect, our system is the best one out there.

I have noticed mentions of you in several different places. I must be behind times but do you have some books out there? I thought I saw a site with a book written by you.

  4. Beautiful shots Sandy. I like the detail. I spent a summer in Hartford, CT when I was almost 7 but the main thing I remember was that was the year the World's Fair was in NY (1964) and we got to go to that. I fear I didn't recall much of the time in Hartford beyond isolated memories. Nice to see your wonderful architecture shots. I hope jury duty was ok.

I love these! The first is framed so beautifully and the second, well, that fellow is quite unusual! I wonder what his story is.

I haven't been called for jury duty in a while. Serving is quite an interesting experience.

  22. Were you selected to serve? I only saw Hartford from the highway on my way to Maine. It was raining, but I thought it looked like a very clean city. I did get rear ended there by a young lady looking for a piece of chewing gum she dropped on her floorboard. She was in a small car and I had a huge SUV at the time so I had no damage. Keep us posted. Pappy

  24. Pappy,
Sadly, no jury duty for me this time around. But the second summons will come in August. I would like to give it a go, though I may bring a cushion.
