Skywatch Friday: Monticello

IMG 0404

The latest trip to North Topsail Beach, North Carolina, included a stop at Thomas Jefferson's place in Virginia, and it was well worth it. A thinker, innovator, diplomat--visionary. His home--Monticello--and its dumb waiter for the wine bottles and ecclectic artwork and skylights and....is gorgeous. It struck me as fitting that the man who largely shaped our nation in its early years had a clear vision of the beauty of life.

  3. Brilliant sky, magnificent architecture and thou. What could be more perfect? Nothing, that's what.

I can't remember if I've ever been to Monticello or not. Surely I have... it's not that far. I guess if I can't remember, I should go back, huh?

I love how the branch seems to be tickling the house under the chin. Great shot!

  13. This is my favorite place and I have been there a couple of times. My favorite gadget in the house is his "copier machine" with the dual quills. The grounds are gorgeous and the home is magnificent. I would just about sell my soul to be able to go upstairs, though.

Did you go into downtown Charlottesville? It is also worth the stop.

I want to go again soon!
