My World Tuesday: The Bethlehem Fair

I took my daughter and her friend to the Bethlehem Fair, an annual agricultural fair in the next town, on Friday evening.

The girls were more interested in the bazaar end of things, so we saw a lot of this:

and very little of that.

Girls are girls are girls! Trailing behind, I got a glimpse of a few other things that looked interesting--and will very likely be there next year, so I'll try again then.

  2. I love county fairs in agricultural places. I grew up in San Mateo County, half of which is densely populated suburbia and the other half, at least used to be agricultural, with the primary crop being flowers. Our county fair was a "Floral Fiesta."

  4. I'm not a photographer and your photos make me wonder if I prefer them or if I would rather be at the fair. I think I prefer the pictures, 'cause I don't have an eye for capturing things the way you do.

    I enjoyed this. Thanks.

  6. The lop eared bunny is adorable! I don't go see many animals now a days at the fair either. I find out if there are any baby ones and see them and that is about it. I do love to spend hours walking around seeing the exhibits tho. I also go see the rides for photos only.

Looks like you all had a great time anyway.

Each photo is a small work of art! Lovely glimpses into your world. The silver light in that first shot is just lovely!

  8. Great shots from the fair Sandy. I can't remember the last time I went to the NC state fair. Probably when I took my daughter and a friend. There are lots of things like that I did when she was growing up that I never make a plan and do as an adult thing.

  13. Oh I love the hats! The bunny is cute. He looks like our bunny Buster He had huge feet and thumped when he saw someone in the yard that should not be. He was better than a dog for intruder alert and great for my roses. I never had better roses from his fertilizer.

  23. Looks like a wonderful fair, and I love those hats!

  24. Wow, that looks like an Oklahoma county fair, except for the funky hats. I don't get it but it seems that those style caps have some sort of counter cultural overtones. I've seen young people wear them in July in Dallas. They look cool but hot.

I think they would be just the thing in the winter. They would go good with my toe shoes. It would give the kids something new to laugh at.

You have the eye Sandy Carlson. Keep up the good work.

  30. Fairs are fun, especially with young people in tow or towing one around. At least they wanted you around.

  31. Hey, I was up there on Saturday night. I skipped the kettle corn because I just had some (awful) fish and chips. Should have gone for the chowder in a bread bowl. Came home with fudge but now it is all gone. Who knew fudge could evaporate so quickly?

  32. It looks like you had fun. I will take some of that kettle corn, thank you.
