You don’t have to ask questions,
Mom says.
People will tell you
What they want
You to know.

Let it flow:

This is old advice from mom.
I don’t even remember the context
In which she gave it to me.

But it has stuck, and that’s what I do:
Let it flow:

It’s likely she said it more than once.

I don’t ask questions.

In listening,
I have learned to hear
How you feel
Who you are
What is true.

It takes time,
But I learn.

Speak to me, and you can be sure of this:

I know you.
